Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival. Shiva is worshiped on this day. It is celebrated on the 14th day of the month of Krishna.
According to Muni Sanat Kumar, there are ten vows to please Shiva. Of these, the Shivaratri vows are the best and most omnipotent. According to Jabali Shruti, this Shivratri vow is the most perfect of the ten Shaiva vows. According to some sources, the Shivratri vows are celebrated on the 14th day of the month of Magh in the holy month of Magh. The festival is celebrated with great devotion and joy in the twelfth Jyotirlinga in different parts of India. People believe that the world was revealed on this day by Devdev Mahadev. According to another mythology, Shiva rescued the planet from imminent danger by drinking all the toxins released by the gods and demons during the churning of the sea. After drinking the poison, he fainted from the flames. Until his definition was returned, the gods and goddesses sat on the unbroken lamp. Devotees celebrate Mahashivratri in remembrance of that day. This day is celebrated every year as Mahashivratri as Falgun Krishna appears as Shiva linga on the fourteenth day.
It is said in the Mahabharata Peace Festival about the glory of Shivaratra that the grandfather Chitrabhanu rescued the story of Iksu about the observance of Mahashivratri while his grandfather Bhishma gave a Thai sermon in the shrine. Chitravanu, the wife of King Jambudip, once observed the Shivratri fast. At that time, the Russian king came to the royal court and asked the king why he was celebrating the day. Because the king was a racist, he told the story of his ancestry: In the past, he was a hunter named Suswar. One evening it was evening in the forest. Unable to return to his hut, he climbed a nearby beech tree to escape the clutches of wild beasts at night. Throughout the night, Belpatra stood up and shed tears, thinking of her family. Unknowingly, those tears and leaves fall on the shibboleth at the foot of the beech tree. As it was morning, he returned home with the prey. He first donated some food to a monk and took his own food. He died a few years later. Unbeknownst to him, he fasted on the night of Shivratri and surrendered the Belpatra and Lotak on Shivalinga, so he took the opportunity to be with Shiva and enjoyed the throne in the form of Chitrabhanu at birth.
On this day, a large number of devotees from all over Odisha, especially RD, Kapilas, Gupteswar, Bedavyas, Bhubaneswar, Mahendragiri, Harishankar, Huma, come together to celebrate this day.
Monday, the fourteenth date of each side and Shivaratri are the best for Shiva worship. While worshiping other gods takes place on the day, Lord Shiva is worshiped at night during this festival. The devotees fast on that day and go to the Shiva temple in the evening to stay awake by lighting unbroken lamps. It is customary to light a lamp around that night and chant the name along with the worship of Shiva. There is a rule of chanting the Gurudatta name. Anyone who has not done the Guru can chant any of the eight names of Shiva, such as Bhava, Sharva, Rudra, Pashupati, Ugrah, Mahan Bhima, Ishan or the mantra of ‘O Namah Shivaya’. Shivratri is performed at four o’clock. Each watch is three o’clock. Shivalinga is anointed with milk in the first hour or evening. The penis is anointed with yogurt in the late afternoon or evening. Shivalinga is anointed with honey during the third watch or night. At the end of the night, the continent rises to the top of the Shiva temple. The purpose of the continent is to provide light by removing ignorant darkness from all over the world. Shivling is worshiped every night with flowers, leaves and fruits. On this day there is a ritual of offering some flowers to Lord Shiva. This day is also known as the Jagar Osha or Jagar Brat because the Hindu men and women fast and break the unbroken lamp and stay awake at night. The festival teaches that there is a need for holistic vigilance and the light of knowledge to clear the path of self-welfare. In the middle of the night, a huge continent is taken to the top of the temple. Devotees are shocked to see that. The next day, the devotees break their fast by completing the bath.
