Jaleswar Shiva Temple

Jaleswar Shiva Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located on the south bank of Kalarahanga village, 2.00 km from Patia and 7.00 km from the village.
According to legend, he was a devotee of Lord Lingaraj, the king of Chudanggarh. He was always traveling by Lingaraj. It was not possible for Lingaraj to travel due to the rainy season, so the husband told the king in a dream to build a temple in a neighboring lotus pond, where God himself lives in the pond. The king built a temple and obeyed God’s will, which is located on the west bank of the river. The king donated land to other services to operate the temple and other related activities. That is why this place is known as Kalarahang. According to local tradition, the temple was built by Padma Keshari, one of the Keshari (Somabanshi) rulers. The temple celebrates Shiva’s wedding, Jagar, Janmasthami, Sitalasthi, Chandan Yatra, Pindadan and Dhanu Makar. From all four sides, a huge wall surrounds the temple. To the east of the compound wall is the Jaleswar River, to the north and south of the paddy fields, and to the west of the Arya road. According to local mythology, the area around the temple is originally surrounded by rice paddies.
