After the success of Paan Singh Tomar, Mary Kom, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag the latest in the list of biopics on sports persons in Bollywood is Duronto.
Duronto is the upcoming Bollywood Film directed by Odia filmmaker Soumendra Padhi on the Life story of Budhia the Marathon Boy from Odisha.
The Film features Manoj Bajpai in the lead role, he is playing the role of Biranchi Das, the man who trained the boy for years keeping the child prodigy at his home with an Olympic dream in his eyes.
Director Soumendra padhi had to visit 100s of schools to find a perfect kid who woul give justice to the character of Budhia, and finally the Director found Mayur from Pune, he said Mayur apart from this acting skills, he is the perfect face with a perfect body language to suit the character of Budhia. Mayur looks very similar to Budhi.
I think everyone of us remembered Budhia, he was the kid who ran from Puri to Bhubaneswar about 60 kms in just 7 hrs at the age of 4. Budhia was born in a very poor family in a slum in Odisha. His mother sold him for 800 rupees in the year 2004, later Biranchi Das found him and started looking after him.
The movie also stars a lot of Theater artists from Odisha, Kolkata and other places.
India’s Raw star Rituraj Mohanty has sung a beautiful song in this movie.
The movie is at its post production stage and will be completed by September end. The release of the movie is not yet finalized.
