Bhadrak Kali Puja keeps tradition to witness the celebrations

Bhadrak Kali Puja is celebrated in a grand way owing to the presence of Bhadrakali temple. In fact in Bhadrak, Kali Puja is a week-long affair that is witnessed by lakhs of people. While a large number of devotees throng the Bhadrakali village, on the outskirts of Bhadrak town, several glittering pandals are erected in Charampa area of the district to house the deity.

The century-old tradition of Kali Puja was started in the district in 1962. Since then, it is being celebrated in a grand manner every year.

Celebrations at the famous Bhadrakali temple is a major attraction. Nearly 15 pandals have been erected with elaborate gates and illumination to attract the visitors. Artisans from Kolkata and Cuttack have been roped in by different puja committees for innovative decorations.

Entertainment programmes are being organised to draw crowd. Traders from Odisha and neighbouring Kolkata, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam and UP have set up their stalls selling exclusive handicraft products.
