Astasambhu Shiva Temple

ଅଷ୍ଟଶମ୍ଭୁ ଶିବ ମନ୍ଦିର2

In the courtyard of the Shiva temple in Uttareshwar, Bhubaneswar, there are eight equal-sized temples called the Ashtashambhu Temple. All these temples are dedicated to the worship of Shambhu or Shiva. Five of these eight temples are in a row and are called Panchupandavas. The temple is privately owned by Ratnakar Garbatu and his family. On the east side of the temple is the Bindusagara Pool, on the west is the Shiva Temple of Uttareshwar. The temple faces east.
It is believed to have been built in the 10th century. These stone temples are built in the line style. The eight shibboleths in the temple are made of precious stones and each shibboleth is different in color. The eight Shivlings are named after Shiva’s eight names, namely: Markandeshwar, Yajneshwar, Neelkantheshwar, Bilveshwar, Kapalmochan Baleshwar Ishaneshwar and Pataleshwar.
