It is only 4 km from the city of Talcher. In the remote village of Sarang is a statue of the eternal eternity Vishnu. The statue was engraved during the reign of the Bhumkar dynasty in the ninth century. The statue of Vishnu is 51 feet long, 23 feet wide and about 2 feet 6 inches wide. Vishnu has conch shells, chakras, mounds and lotus on his hands, while his head is surrounded by eternal serpents. It is a government-recognized tourist attraction and is responsible for its maintenance by the Archaeological Survey of India.
