Biju Patnaik
He is considered as the “son” of mother Odisha. He was a great politician in the history of Odisha and had been Chief Minister of the state for two terms.
2. Subhas Chandra Bose
Being one of the front line freedom fighters, Netaji was the founder of Indian National Army (INA).
3. Gopabandhu Das
He was given title of Utkalamani, meaning “Gem of Odisha”. He was altogether a freedom fighter, journalist, poet, social worker and reformer and founder of the popular Odia newspaper Samaj.
4. Madhusudan Das
Being the first graduate as well as advocate of Odisha, he got the title of UtkalGauraba (Pride of Odisha). Popularly known as MadhuBabu, he was altogether a great scholar, social reformer and industrialist.
5. Fakir Mohan Senapati
He is considered as the father of Odia nationalism, modern Odia literature and Odia fiction. He was an eminent writer, social reformer and educator and called as Vyasa Kabi. His notable writings include Chha Maana Atha Guntha, Rabati, etc.
6. Akshaya Mohanty
He is a singer, musician, lyricist and writer and has contributed a lot to Ollywood. His popular songs include He Phaguna Tume, Chithi mora tiki chadhei.
7. Kelu charan Mahapatra
Being the first Odia recipient of Padma Vibhusan, he was an Odissi dancer and guru. He supported and contributed a lot to promote Odissi as a classical dance throughout the world.
8. Jatin Das
Being a renowned painter and sculptor, he is the father of Bollywood actor-director Nandita Das. He has won several awards including Padma Bhusan.
9. Sudarsan Pattnaik
He is famous all over the globe for his sand-art sculpting and has represented India in many international Competitions. He won Padma Shri in 2014.
10. Dillip Tirkey
He was the ex-captain of Indian hockey team and has represented India in many international games. He is currently a Rajya Sabha member.
