- Fish 500 gm
- Onion 2 (thinly sliced)
- Garlic 6 cloves (grated)
- Green Chilli 3-4
- Red Chilli Powder 1 tbs
- Turmeric Powder 1/2 tbs
- Salt 1 tbs
- Mustard Oil 2 tbsp
- Banana leaf 1 full leaf
Method :
Make a marination by mixing all ingredients
In the onion add the grated garlic
Add 1 tbs red chili powder
Add 1/2 tbs turmeric powder
Add 1 tbs salt
Mix well together
Add 1 tbsp mustared oil and mix well
Put the fish in the marination
Add another tbsp of mustard oil and also throw in the green chilies
Cover marination and refrigerate for 1 hour
Wash the banana leaf and roast them lightly on heat to soften them
Place the fish along with all the marination in banana leaf
Wrap, fold and tie the leaf to ensure that there are no leaks or gap for the marination to escape
Put the bundle in a skillet on low heat and cook for 1 hour
Turn the bundle every 15 minutes
After 1 hour the fish and spices should all be cooked
Unwrap the banana leaf to reveal the smoky and musky fish
The fish and spices are all cooked and ready to be served with steaming hot rice.
