Odisha govt takes possession of land encroached by IPS Officer’s wife Recent Odissa News
THE STATE government on Monday took possession of 42 acres of government land encroached by the wife of a 2002-batch IPS officer, who was suspended last year after being accused of police excesses.
The Puri district administration freed the land encroached by Ranjana Gajbhiye, wife of Odisha-cadre IPS officer Satish Gajbhiye, who was suspended in August.
But even after the mandatory notice period, she didn’t vacate the land, which includes government ponds, gochhar and anabadi land.
October, the home department had started departmental proceedings against Gajbhiye, accusing him of purchasing 8.506 acres of land in Puri district in the name of his wife in 2012-13, but not declaring it in his immovable property returns for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
“It has caused huge embarrassment to the administration and also to the member of the service,”.
